Yvonne Corcoran Obituary, Death – On May 15, 2023, at the age of 85, Yvonne “Vonnie” (Barber) Corcoran of Camden passed away at home with her family by her side.
On April 21, 1938, Vonnie was born to parents Lamoine Drake Barber and Jess Barber in Camden. She worked as a mother and only breadwinner at the Super Duper and Mystic Stamp Company.
In August of 1996, she wed the man of her dreams, Toby Corcoran. She had many passions throughout life, including books, felines, arts and crafts, stamping, scrapbooking, gambling, doll and bear collecting, horseshoes, and celebrating the Fourth of July with her family at Otto Mills Hunting Camp near Redfield.
She fried eggs in bacon fat and made a mean coffee cake, among other things. She participated in the Camden St. Patrick’s Day Parade with her husband, Toby, and held the titles of “King” and “Queen” on behalf of the Corcoran family. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Daughter Terry (Kelley) Kent, husband Francis “Toby” Corcoran, brother Dale Elberson, and stepsisters Janie (Barber) Jones and Betty (Barber) Petrie all before her in death.
Her family includes Debbie (Mike) Waterman, Mike (Terry) Kent, Charlene (Mike) Congden, Annette (Mike) Johnson, Jennifer (Mark) Wolff, stepsons Ronnie (Janine) Corcoran and Pat (Patty) Corcoran, 16 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
At her desire, there will be no calling hours, and a graveside service will be done at a later date. Her family would like to acknowledge and appreciate the personnel at Rome Health Extended Care for their care and compassion.
LaRobardiere Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, Camden, NY, is handling the arrangements. Donations to the Camden American Legion Auxiliary or the Alzheimer’s Association are requested in place of flowers
