Timothy Tanner Obituary, Death – Timothy B. Tanner, 55, of Richmond, Indiana, died at home on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.
Timothy Tanner was born on April 18, 1968, in Detroit, Michigan, to David L. and Margie Mae Hampton Tanner. He spent the majority of his life in this town.
His wife, Susanna Werner Tanner, whom he married in 1991, survives, as do their children, Madison (Cody Murphy) Tanner and Kennedy Tanner; brothers, James W. (Kimberly) Tanner and Stephen P. Tanner; niece, Marin Tanner; nephew, Jonathan Tanner; numerous friends; UPS coworkers and extended family. His mother, as well as other close aunts and uncles, predeceased him. It’s natural to be curious about what happened to someone so young. Tim died unexpectedly from natural causes.
If you knew him, you’d say he was a charismatic and joyous person, always with a gorgeous smile on his face and a spring in his step. He graduated from Northeastern High School in 1986 and immediately began working for UPS in Centerville, which led to a 37-year career with the organization, including serving as Union Steward. During this period, he formed many cherished memories and connections with his coworkers, leaving a huge void.
Tim was a skilled technician with a keen eye for detail. He was quick to pick up skills and information as he went, and could break apart a vehicle dash to make a repair, then rebuild it to complete restoration in perfect shape. Neighbors chuckle as they recall him frequently being found with his feet poking out from underneath a car. He was equally competent with home maintenance and could fix almost anything intuitively.
Tim, a skilled storyteller, was frequently entertaining those around him with a funny description of an incident. During an evening gathering of fun and spirits, stories about his twin, Jim, and his companions Mike, Kevin, and Darrin, among others, would always surface. He leaves a legacy of enjoying life to the fullest. He embraced parenting wholeheartedly and readily adopted the role of “girl dad,” braiding hair and tying ribbons and bows. With his girls, no issue was off bounds, from feminine hygiene items to how to replace the oil on a car. He provided a safe and genuine presence for his kids and their friends.
