Terry McDermott Obituary, Death – Terry McDermott, one of the best players in the history of our sport, left his family early on Saturday morning in order to go on a trip. He was with his family at the time.
His demise occurred in the wee hours of the morning. The family of United States Speedskating is inconsolable after learning this news, and they want to express their condolences to those who were close to him, including his friends and family members. The disclosure has brought an immense amount of suffering to every member of our community. Both Terry’s participation as a skater and his contributions to our sport have had a significant influence on the sport as a whole during the course of his career.
This is particularly true with regard to our sport. The impact of this has been observed across the board in every aspect of the sport. Our condolences, thoughts, and prayers are with Terry’s family, as well as the many skaters in our sport whom he was able to inspire over the course of the many decades that he spent competing in this sport. Terry was a pioneer in the sport of figure skating, and he was able to inspire countless skaters during his career. We are going to miss having Terry here with us. We will miss him.
