Robert Starnes Obituary, Death – Robert Lee Starnes, a resident of Granite Falls, Washington, passed away at his home on Monday, May 15, 2023. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Cherie Starnes; brothers, John and Landon Starnes; and sisters, Odell Teague and Lucille Phillips. He was born on July 29, 1939, in Caldwell County, and he was the son of the late Isaac Ike Melton Starnes and Ora Dell Bowman Starnes. His parents both passed away before him.
He had been a member of the Grace Chapel UMC in Granite Falls for his entire life. Survivors include his wife of 52 plus years, Rebecca Rae Bumgarner Starnes of the home; son, Robert Melton Starnes of Hickory; sisters, Polly Moore of Hickory, and Nancy Farmer of Granite Falls; grandchildren, Chelsea Grant (Ethan), Emily Starnes, Christopher Starnes, Jamie Starnes, Whitley Starnes; great-grandchildren, Norah Grant, Waylen Wooten, Blake Moser, Skyler Starnes.
Funeral services will be placed at Grace Chapel UMC on Friday, May 19, 2023, at 3 p.m., with Pastor Phillip Hefner and Pastor Mitch Wilson officiating the ceremony. After the funeral, the body will be laid to rest at the church cemetery. Before the funeral ceremony begins, the family will host a visitation in the church from 2:00 until 3:00 pm.
Christopher Starnes, Avery Fox, Wayne Link, Ethan Grant, Wesley Starnes, and Randy Starnes will take on the responsibility of serving as pallbearers. Danny Link, Ronnie Bowman, and Alan Grant will serve as honorary bearers of the casket. The family would like to express their gratitude to Mr. Starnes’ particular caregiver, Alfreda Link, as well as the staff at Amorem Hospice for their kindness and affection. Donations in memory of the deceased may be sent to Amorem Hospice, located at 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, North Carolina 28645.
