Rachel Paysen Obituary, Death – On May 21 at the age of 80, Rachel Ann (McCloy) Paysen of Dewitt, Iowa passed away. She was born to William Sr. and Bernice McCloy on April 22, 1943, in Maquoketa, Iowa.
Rachel attended a one-room school when she was younger. She was born at Iron Hill and raised there with her siblings. On October 2nd, 1959, she wed Delbert Paysen. She raised five kids and spent years in the medical field.
Rachel had a wide range of interests, including traveling, dancing, shopping, and eating at restaurants like Red Lobster. She visited several other states and countries, including Colorado, Hawaii, the Bahamas, Florida, Las Vegas, and Cancun.
It was also one of her favorite genres. She devoted a great deal of time and energy to caring for her flowers. She is survived by her brother, Larry (Liz) McCloy; her five children, Gary (Janet) Paysen, Peggy (Bob) Paysen-Nightingale, Rodney (Deb) Paysen, William (Billy) Paysen, and Melissa (Mike) Paysen as well as her grandchildren – Adam, Kelsey, Kaitlin, Nicole, Clay Jr., Corey, Destiny, Spencer, Justin, Kristin, Brooke, and Tayla; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Her parents, seven siblings, and granddaughters April and Brooke all predeceased her.
On Friday, May 26, 2023, at 11:30 a.m., there will be a funeral service and burial for her in Ozark Cemetery in rural Maquoketa, Iowa. On Thursday, May 25, 2023, from 4 to 7 p.m., the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa will host a gathering for family and friends. The funeral service will be followed by cremation.
