Michael Harvey Obituary, Jeffersonville Township Public Library Member Michael Harvey Has Died

Michael Harvey Obituary, Death – On Thursday, May 11, 2023, Michael Ray “Mike” Harvey, who was 76 years old and lived in New Albany, Indiana, passed away. Mike was an ardent collector who specialized in maritime memorabilia. He taught elementary school for more than 30 years before calling it quits at Grant Line Elementary School in 2009, where he was well known for his affection for students.

While Mike was working at the Jeffersonville Township Public Library for more than 50 years, he also did volunteer work with children. Mike will be remembered as a man who was unselfish, giving, loving, and caring throughout all of eternity. He was the son of William Harvey, who passed away, and Helen (Reich) Harvey, who was born on January 10, 1947, in New Albany, Indiana. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother William “Bill” Harvey, his nephew Chris Harvey, and his niece Shannon Snelling. His parents passed away before him.

Mike is survived by his great-nephew Brayden Harvey and great-niece Sofiah Harvey; his niece Tracy Proffitt; his great-nieces Carra Watson, Kristen Fulks, Kelsea Fiedler, and Courtney Lee; and a large number of friends and other family members. Mike will be greatly missed.

With respect to Mike’s preferences, we decided to cremate his body. A brief graveside service will take performed on Friday, May 19, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Memories at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park located at 2778 Charlestown Road in New Albany, Indiana. A memorial service or celebration of life will be held at a later time, the specific date of which will be chosen by the family.
