Mary Mullen Obituary, Death- The Lenape Family suffered a profound loss today with the death of Lenape secretary Mary Jane Mullen. Her passing is felt deeply by the many members of the Lenape Family with whom she worked.
Mary Jane was the embodiment of all that is good in our world. She felt a genuine love for all things Lenape, including students, staff, and alumni. She was always ready with a hug, a kiss, and some candy for anyone who needed it. For more than six decades, Mary Jane’s impact on our school and everyone in it has been immeasurable, and we join in mourning with untold numbers of those who are devastated by this loss. Working through grief is always difficult and unique to each individual.
Burlington County School Crisis Response Team members and other school counselors will be available on Monday, May 15 beginning at 7:30 am in the Lenape Media Center to assist students and staff who are having a difficult time processing this profound loss. No appointment is necessary. I invite parents/guardians to contact Mr. Castor, Lenape Supervisor of Counseling, at 609-654-5111, ext. 338300 or your child’s counselor with any questions or concerns you may have in your discussions of this loss at home. We know that students will react differently to sad news.
For that reason, we have posted resources on our website that you may find helpful in gauging your child’s response in the coming days. On your behalf, we extend our deep sympathy and concern to Mary Jane’s entire family at this time. Once information is available about the services for Mary Jane Mullen, we will share the details with the Lenape Family. I ask all of our members of the Lenape Family to look after one another as we deal with the loss of our friend and someone who truly exemplified Lenape High School.
