Marlyn Benjamin Obituary, Death – Moscow resident Marlyn J. Benjamin, 82, passed away on Monday at her home. George Benjamin Jr.’s widow passed away on July 20, 1991. She was a Scranton native and the late Marvin and Madeline (Grogan) Wyandt’s daughter. As a certified practical nurse, Marlyn worked. Marlyn worked for Printcraft Card Company and Westside Hospital until she retired.
With such a large family, Marlyn was constantly occupied, but when she did have some free time, she liked to go shopping, interact with friends and strangers, and travel with her sisters. Her magnificent children were her greatest accomplishment, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were unquestionably her pride and delight. She loved her family more than anything else.
Marlyn belonged to the Dunmore parish of SS. Anthony & Rocco. Her children, Eleanor “Ellie” Lindsey of Dunmore, Georgina Meade of Spring Brook Twp., Maryann Reese and Thomas of Spring Brook Twp., Joseph Schirra and Tammy of Spring Brook Twp., Lori Dutka and Joe of Olyphant, and George Schirra III and Lisa of Pittston, are still alive. Marlyn’s brother Marvin Wyandt also predeceased her along with her husband.
Monday at 9:30 a.m., St. Anthony’s Church, 208 Smith St., Dunmore, Pa., will hold a Mass of Christian Burial. At Spring Brook Cemetery, there will be an interment and rite of commitment. Donations in memory may be donated to the Ronald McDonald House or St. Joseph’s Center.
