Judith Schell Obituary, Death – Judith Ann Schell, 75, of Dauphin, beloved mother of two and passionate wife to husband Charles Schell, died quietly on May 11, 2023, after a heroic 5-year fight with dementia.
Judy was born on February 24, 1948, in Williamstown, to John Francis and Anna Mae (Buggy) McNamara, and grew up with three other siblings, Robert McNamara (Donna), Jean-Daniel (Larry), and Patrick McNamara (Irene), as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Judy was influenced by her family to be a compassionate and caring woman who constantly gave her time to others, which she carried over into her own family as a wife and mother. She met her spouse at a high school dance in Lykens in 1964, and they married on May 13, 1967.
Judy worked at Appleton Papers, Inc. for 25 years before retiring. She worked as a Licensing Agent with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board after leaving Appleton Papers, where she eventually resigned after ten years.
She was a compassionate, loving, kind, and unconditionally supporting the mother to her two children, Angela Schell Kenno (David) and John Gregory Schell, and grandma to Zachary Charles Kenno (Melissa) and Emma Mae Kenno.
She had a huge heart. She was a calm person who was yet quite smart and entertaining! She was selfless, independent, sensitive, and empathetic. She enjoyed spending time with her family, taking vacations, sewing, flower gardening, and talking and laughing on the phone with her lifelong friend Sherry.
Judy’s parents, John and Mae McNamara, mother-in-law Anna Schell, brother Robert McNamara and his wife Donna, and brothers-in-law Larry Daniel and Donald Kauffman all predeceased her.
Her spouse, two children, two grandchildren, two sisters, one brother, one sister-in-law, and numerous relatives, nieces, and nephews survive her.
There will be no funeral or memorial service. In the fall of 2023, the family will tell loved ones of the location of an interment service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, 1320 Lingelstown Road, Harrisburg, PA, 17110.
