John Buck Obituary, Death – John Clinton Buck, 86, of Morgantown, WV, originally of Spencer, WV, died peacefully on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Harmony of Morgantown. John Buck was born on June 14, 1936, in Spencer, West Virginia, to the late Walter and Emilee Starcher Buck.

John was a member of Spencer’s First Baptist Church and a 1954 graduate of Spencer High School. He graduated from the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy in 1958, and as a registered pharmacist, he owned and operated Hughes Drug, Inc. in Spencer for 32 years, as well as Staats Pharmacy in Spencer. From 1959 to 1962, he served in the Army at Fort McPherson in Georgia.
John married Clarksburg, West Virginia native Sheila Jane Lynch, and dedicated his life to his family, church, and community.

He found fulfillment in supporting his two boys’ scholastic and athletic activities, as well as volunteering in numerous positions in his church and community. John is survived by two sons, Randy Buck and wife Marcy of Mooresville, NC, and Tom Buck and wife Paige of Morgantown; grandchildren, Grayson Buck and wife Ryann of Huntersville, NC, Griffin Buck and Noah McLeod both of Charlotte, NC, Mackenzie Buck of Charleston, SC, Delaney and Audrey Buck of Morgantown; and great-grandchild, Mia Rose of Huntersville, NC.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased in 2012 by his wife, Sheila. He donated his body to West Virginia University’s Human Gift Registry. A memorial ceremony to honor his life will be conducted on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Spencer, 338 Main Street, Spencer, WV 25276. Pastor Mark Wood will officiate. Family and friends will be welcomed at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to First Baptist Church of Spencer, with Attention Pastor Mark Wood.
