Jeanette Walker Obituary, Death – On Monday, May 22nd, visitation will take place from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Norton Funeral Home in Hartsville.
Funeral services will be held at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia, NC, on Tuesday, May 23 at 1:00 PM. We hope that everyone whose lives Jeanette has touched will join us in celebrating her extraordinary life.
Our dear Jeanette left this world on 5/19/23, and it is with great sorrow that we share the news of her demise. Jeanette Avery was born on October 1, 1929 to the late Reel Lee Avery and Flossie Whisenant Avery, in Dallas, North Carolina.
She attended Bethune Baptist Church her whole life and was a member of the Bethune Woman’s Club before retiring as an executive secretary from DuPont.
Jeanette was a remarkable woman who lived life to the fullest. She had a deep yearning to see the globe, therefore she traveled extensively and gained spiritually from the experiences.
Her contagious laugh and undying devotion to her family are qualities we will never forget. Jeanette’s cherished nieces Sheila and Emmy, as well as her dearest friend Ursula Archer, and grandsons Eric “Clint” Walker and Shaun Christopher Worley, survive her.
Jeanette’s two sons, Charles “Chuck” Walker and Eric Lee Walker, as well as her husband, Charles “Charlie” Walker, have all passed away before her.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Jeanette’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of one’s choosing.
A beautiful life deserves a fitting tribute.
It is a privilege for Norton Funeral Home & Crematory to care for the Walkers in their time of need.
