Jana MacDonald Obituary, Death – This weekend has been so challenging. My lovely younger sister, Jana Rayne MacDonald, has been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, news of which we received on the morning of Friday.
Hours were spent communicating with her kid and my other sisters online as her life slowly drained away. She had a sudden, acute strep illness, and she passed away at around 3 in the afternoon.
She went from having a most perfect Mother’s Day week with her daughters and their husbands and her two grandsons she adored, to suddenly so sick that she went to the ER and all their efforts to help save her didn’t work.
All of us are still in a state of profound shock and grief. All her beauty and vibrancy and talent has just been yanked away from us and the world too fast.
Her last big hobby was making a coloring book for youngsters on climate change and what they can do about it, and the artwork is beautiful. I just got back from Antigonish, where I went to see another sister and brother to vent.
This week I will be visiting Jana, her husband Robert, and three of my other siblings in Toronto. Her daughters and the boys who cherished their “Jama” have my deepest condolences.
