James Bebout Obituary, James Bebout 73, Of Bates Has Died

James Bebout Obituary, Death – James (Jim) Anthony Bebout, 73, of Bates City, left this world on May 17, 2023, and his death has been met with great sadness. He passed away peacefully at his home.

Jim Bebout was born to Kansas City residents Ralph and Kristina on November 22nd, 1949. After finishing high school at Park Hill in 1967, he enlisted in the Navy in September of 1968.

During his time as a radioman in Da Nang, Vietnam, Jim earned numerous service and campaign awards. In 1972, he was given a discharge with honor.
Jim was a married father of a young daughter when he enlisted in the military. Circumstances separated them, and he settled in Missoula, Montana, to spend the next decade working as a ranch hand and exploring the great outdoors. In 1982, he relocated back to Kansas City and in 1983, he wed again.

He and his wife started a family in Blue Springs, where they reared their two kids. During that period, Jim established himself as an expert in paintless dent repair and spent many weekends at the Lake of the Ozarks with his family.

Jim retired in 2010, relocated to Bates City, and continued working at full speed. He loved spending time with his friendly neighbors and working on his never-ending list of tasks.

Jim loved visiting Mary Jo in Florida and spending time with his kids. He had a wide variety of interests, including fishing, his pets, hunting, tinkering with cars, bidding at auctions, birding, going to shows, and supporting the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jim had a reputation for making the most of every day because to his charismatic personality and contagious laugh. Those who had the privilege of knowing him will mourn his passing.

Jim is survived by his wife Susan, their children Tyler and Erica and their spouses Paul and Dara Hartley, their mother Susan Alumbaugh Bebout, and their grandchildren Owen and Audrey Hartley. There are thirteen of Jim’s nieces and nephews, as well as his girlfriend Mary Jo Burton, sister Nancy Morris (Larry), sister Theresa Carlson, daughter Jamie McDaniel, and brother Greg Bebout (Pam).

Ralph and Kristina Bebout, Kris Bebout, Melissa Hall, and Martin Carlson served as his parents before they passed away. The family will receive guests at Royer’s Funeral Home on Thursday, May 25 from 5:00 to 6:30 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life service from 6:30 to 7:00 PM.

The funeral home is located at 100 Royer Lane, Grain Valley, Missouri 64029. Donations to the Wounded Warrior Project, Wayside Waifs, or KC Pet Project are requested in lieu of flowers.
