Ingrid Haebler Obituary, Death – The well-known pianist and composer Ingrid Haebler passed away yesterday, according to the Salzburger Nachrichten. Haebler’s work may be found on numerous recordings.
Before Alfred Brendel arrived on the scene, Haebler was the Mozart performer of choice for the Philips label. She also recorded the entirety of Schubert’s sonatas and Johann Christian Bach’s compositions for the piano, in addition to virtually all of Mozart’s works for the instrument. Her whole works are spread across 58 CDs.
She was born in Poland and raised there until she was eleven years old, at which point her parents transferred the family to Salzburg, Austria so that she could attend the Mozarteum. She was one of the first prominent artists to play chamber music on period instruments, and she is known for her thoughtfulness and sensitivity.
