When I gave her a hug, she told me that it was probably the final trip she would take with us because her battle with cancer was almost over and that she was almost done with treatment. She was with us when we celebrated the 2023 edition of the Brenda Jackson Readers Reunion. I simply cannot fathom taking another trip without her, so the news that she enjoyed herself on the one and only vacation she took with us comes as a significant source of relief to me. Every time I thought about the next time we were going to see one another, I became really excited.
Since the first day that the two of us embarked on a journey together, she has been my constant travel companion everywhere we go. Remember to remember the Simmons family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this trying time. They could really use some support right now.
