Damon Payton Obituary, Resident Of Chicago Has Died

Damon Payton Obituary, Death- According to a press release issued by the Overland Park police department on Wednesday, a man who was shot during a gunfight earlier this month at the Econo Lodge Inn & Suites in Overland Park has passed away as a result of his injuries.

The shooting occurred at the hotel. According to a press release issued by Captain Todd Chappell of the Overland Park Police Department, the individual who was shot and killed was identified as Damon Payton, who was originally from Chicago. Around two in the morning on May 6, police were called to the motel located in the 7500 block of Shawnee Mission Drive in response to a disturbance that had taken place there. Payton, who was suffering from a gunshot wound when the officers arrived, was found by the officers.

According to the news release, he was rushed to a hospital where he was in critical condition but later passed away as a result of his injuries. Before the cops arrived, a vehicle drove out of the parking lot with two passengers still inside. A short time later, the police located that vehicle and determined that both of the occupants inside had received gunshot wounds as well.

They were injured, so they were rushed to a hospital to get their wounds treated. According to the information provided in the press release, “the incident reportedly started as a verbal disturbance in the parking lot between two pairs of individuals, then weapons were drawn, and a gunfight ensued.” Officer John Lacy, a spokesman for the Overland Park Police Department, stated that although a suspect has been identified, no one has been taken into custody at this time.
