Dale Gibson Obituary, Death – Landon Gibson, 15 years old and from Athens, Ohio, died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 21, 2023, in Athens. Amy Shields Gibson and the late Dale Gibson have a son named Landon Shields Gibson. On November 2, 2007, he was born in Athens, Ohio. Landon was a first-year student at Athens High School at the time.
Throughout his high school career, he participated in track, football, basketball, and baseball. Following a few of those games, he and his father had a pleasant talk in which they critiqued his performance. Landon spent the most of his free time at the skatepark, the Athens Recreation Center, and in downtown Athens with his friends, where he mingled with coeds and hung out at the aforementioned venues. Landon valued the company of several of his close friends.
He is survived by his mother, his brother Zayne Gibson, his paternal grandmother Rhonda Hill, his maternal grandparents Darrell Shields and Juanita Balch, and his maternal great grandmother Josie Shields; his aunt Jodi Gibson, and a number of other aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his grandfather Gordon Gibson, his father’s father, and his uncle Sean Gibson.
Graveside services will be performed in Athens Memory Gardens on the 26th of May at 11:00 a.m. Following the burial services, a lunch will be served at the Athens American Legion Post 21, 21 West Union Street in Athens. Anyone who wishes to attend is invited; however, bringing a dish to pass is just encouraged and not essential. The funeral arrangements will be handled by the Ewing-Schwarzel Funeral Home.
