Corinne Filograna Obituary, Philadelphia PA Corinne Filograna Obituary And Funeral Arrangement

Corinne Filograna Obituary, Death – Corinne E. Filograna, 22, died quietly on May 20, 2023, surrounded by her loving family, at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, after a lengthy fight with cancer. She was born on August 10, 2000, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, to Frank and Kathy (Mengeringhausen) Filograna.

Corinne and her parents lived in Collegeville. She received her Summa Cum Laude diploma from Loyola University Maryland in 2022, was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, and played Division 1 volleyball. Corinne has been playing volleyball since 5th grade and was awarded the Father Francis McManamin Unsung Hero Award at Loyola for her collaboration and leadership on and off the field. Corinne was pursuing her Masters’s Degree in Public Health at Drexel University while undergoing cancer treatment.

This year, she worked as a student clinical research assistant at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and co-authored two journal articles with the CHOP Policy Lab. She enjoyed spending time at the beach in OCNJ with family and friends. She loved to travel and eat, and she was fortunate enough to spend a summer in Rome exploring both of her interests.

Corinne will tell you that she is completely well, except for her cancer. Her positive outlook and hope for a cure inspired her to live her life with elegance and humor. ‘There’s always hope,’ she would say, even as her cancer immediately relapsed. She attended a Taylor Swift concert just a few days before her death and had the time of her life with friends and family. At the Parkway Run and Walk in September, Team Corinne raised funds for CHOP Oncology.

Corinne’s parents, Frank and Kathy, as well as her twin sister Elena and brother Jack, survive her. Mario and Amalia Filograna, as well as Bernie and Susan Mengeringhausen, are grandparents. Relatives and friends are welcomed to her viewing at the Volpe Funeral Home on Thursday, May 25 from 6 to 8 PM. Relatives and friends may also pay their respects at the Visitation BVM Church, 190 N Trooper Road, on Friday, May 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., with the Funeral Mass following at 10:00 a.m.
