Cecilia Villalobos Obituary, Death – Cecilia Villalobos, 31, of Anaheim, has been named as one of three fatalities killed in a two-car incident on Interstate 10 on Sunday by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
The deadly accident occurred at 7:27 a.m. along Haugen Lehmann Way in Whitewater. According to the California Highway Patrol, a black Tesla Model 3 and a red Chevrolet Suburban collided for unclear circumstances, causing the Chevrolet’s driver to lose control and crash into the center divider.
According to the CHP, the Chevrolet flipped, ejecting six of the nine passengers inside and partially ejecting Villalobos. According to officials, all of the inmates were related and from Anaheim.
Villalobos was declared dead on the spot. A 12-year-old girl and a 10-year-old child were thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the spot.
After being ejected, a 3-year-old daughter and a 7-year-old boy suffered serious injuries. The kid and an 11-year-old girl were evacuated to a local trauma center, and a 15-year-old guy was transported to the hospital by ground ambulance. The driver of the Chevrolet, a 39-year-old guy, suffered moderate injuries, while the right front passenger, a 41-year-old man, had minor injuries. The Tesla driver, a 31-year-old Indio man, was the only occupant in the Tesla and was not injured.
According to California Highway Patrol spokesperson Jason Montez, officials do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the deadly crash. The eastbound I-10 lanes near Haugen Lehmann Way in Whitewater were closed for almost seven hours following the accident.
