Bríd Néill Obituary, Death – In recent days, our dear Village Elder Brd Bean U’ Néill died away, and we would like to extend our condolences to Eamonn, Maura, and Sheila on the occasion of her passing.
It is difficult to think of Brd without breaking into a smile because she surrounded herself with joy and laughter at all times. She was well-known in the community, participated in a number of its activities and groups, and was always willing to lend a hand when it was needed.
An avid supporter of Fr. O’Neill’s who never fails to enthusiastically wave the club flag and participate in the festivities that accompany the club’s many victories.
Before there was ever a Tidy Towns committee in the hamlet, there was a man named Brd Bean U’ Néill who took care of the roses at the entrance to the church, frequently adding and replacing plants in the background.
Picking up litter and, during harvest season, fending off falling straw and grain from trailers as they rounded the corner from Ballymacoda, and doing so with a smile and a wave as you went by.
It was a stroke of good luck for Ladysbridge when Brd traveled all the way from Ballingeary to make her home smack dab in the midst of the community once she moved there.
