Barnie Flowers Obituary, Death – Barnie Ree Leatherwood Flowers, 92, died on May 16, 2023, at the home of her daughter Vivian Griffin in Montgomery, Alabama. Rev. Jim Powell and Rev. Shane Allen will officiate at the funeral ceremony on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Springfield Baptist Church.
Skeen Funeral Home of Troy will conduct the burial in Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet visitors at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Her husband of 65 years, Robert Carlton Flower, died, as did her parents, William Eldridge Leatherwood and Bessie Pearl Chapman; sons Carl and Milton Curtis Flowers; brother, James Leatherwood; and grandson Steven Lee Griffin.
She is survived by her daughter Vivian Griffin (John); daughter-in-law Sandra Flowers; grandchildren Tyler Flowers (Cheyenne) and Whitney Flowers (TJ); great grandchildren Lynleigh and Ansleigh Griffin, Mickenzie Flowers, and Carson Horton and Hayden Flowers; brother Orron Leatherwood (Phyllis); sisters-in-law Nita Leatherwood, Lonice McClendon, Betty Shiver; brother-in-law Leon Flowers (Mary Virgina); and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Barnie Ree was a typical housewife of her period, endowed with a wide range of talents and skills. She was devoted to her family and active in her religion and neighbourhood.
