Amy McHugh Obituary, Death – My younger sister Amy Mitchum McHugh, who was fighting breast cancer, passed away at 6:45 this morning after a long and courageous struggle. She was 35 years old. She fought against it for almost seven years before ultimately being successful in her efforts. Amy was the most charitable young person I’ve ever had the good fortune to call a friend.
She had a beautiful sense of humor in addition to her sensitive nature. She never once complained, and despite all of the difficulties that were involved with her condition, she was able to maintain a positive outlook on life. Amy was able to accomplish a great lot during the few short years of her life, one of which was getting her nursing certification.
The accomplishment in which she felt the greatest sense of pride was the fact that she was able to fulfill the roles of mother to Maela and wife to Chris McHugh. It is painful to think that Amy passed away on Mother’s Day, yet the fact that she was a mother was the achievement of which she was the most proud. I hope Amy has a wonderful Mother’s Day today. I am relieved to learn that you are no longer enduring any pain at this time, and it is my fervent hope that our paths will cross again someday in heaven. To the most beautiful girl in the world, all of my love.
